You are the shade in my life

Back after ages...lots has happened since...more on that later

focus on the lamp...there's a lampshade in my living room now. Got it as a present from my athai. Its a neat looking one, with an off whitish shade and a beautiful wooden stand which has intricate enamel designs on it on it. The beauty of it starts when night falls and it lights up the room with such a warm glow, the whole place looks really fine. I don't know why we never had a lamp at our place before.
It makes for great place to chat and relax.

Makes me think how important lighting is in setting the look and feel, ambience of a place. The way the sun and moon set different moods through the day.

Make the most of now

I have this thing for good advertisements. They make me very happy,U know the kind of feeling that everything is all right with the world. So there are moments when i am just watching the tv randomly, and this ad comes up,and i sit up and start thanking God for them. When i watch an ad,it makes me think about the long process that must have gone into making it and in contrast how little time there is in a ad for us to see everything that has gone into it.
Current ones that i love are:
I love all Vodafone ads and i should look up the agency who are behind the gr8 stuff.
The one where a guy goes to check his result in college and he has passed and he doesnt know how God can be so kind to him.He is desparate to tell this to someone, partly to make sure that its really true.
Another one, where a girl gets into an elevator mindlessly busy with her own self. She gets in,door closes. Now she begins to realize this other person in the lift is a celebrity(obviously supremely handsome and smart). Now her dilemma is to act normal because she doesnt want to appear star-struck although she is, completely!! And so she acts as if this is a normal everyday situation, and she has celebrities entering into lifts everyday. The lift reaches a floor, door opens, there are cameras flashing away as soon as the celebrity appears. He gets out into the papparazi. That leaves our girl alone in the lift, finally the experience sinking in,and she is hyperventilating just thinking about what just happened.
They are truly amazing ads, because of a simple concept(read no billion dollar celebrity special appearance),something that can happen in your life(ok the celebrity+lift thing might not happen so often)so u feel a instant rapport with the product, and the expressions which say it all.
Also the latest ones which are running everywhere there is place between the T20 overs, with the Cute White Things(so adorable!!) are really nice. This is another concept which shows great taste and simplicity in the ad.Like only white and shades of grey are used in the display still conveying emotions so beautifully. And the perfect gibberish voice for those CWT's make it very interesting to watch. It has set a high standard for animation ads that we have these days.
Here's to ad-making and simplicity.

Jalebis

I had jalebis after ages today. With milk.Period.They tasted yum.We usually have the jhaangri at home, which is the south indian twist of good ol'jalebis. They taste quite different and are more bright orange, almost red, laced with sugar.Jalebis remind me of granny asking us to have jilobi with samosas whenever we had guests over. Thats the funny way she pronounces it. Anyways today thanks to my bro who desired to have the crisp jalebis ,who despises jhaangri,we all got to savour this amazing sweet at home.Of course we bought it from a local halwai, who is the best here.I also remembered the Dhaara advertisement with young Parzan Dastur who runs away from home and returns to the lure of fresh jalebis at home.So much for a jalebi.

Blogging: a luxury

Hi all,
I am writing my first official blog on blogosphere and I am feeling as if suddenly a huge medium is opened in front of me. I mean, blogs have been around for quite some time, but its a feeling of discovering something new that every first timer would experience.
It was the last day of the Ganesha festival in Mumbai today. As I write this,I can hear firecrackers bursting nearby where the last of the idols would be immersed for this year. We also keep the idol of Ganpati at home and immerse it after a day. This year Dad made the idol at home which was the most beautiful part of the festival for me. Although it wasn't the latest eco-friendly idol,i hope we will make it there next year. He made it with PoP,and it came out beautifully. We painted it with water colors and when it was all done,we felt as though the idol was family. You might think I am getting too emotional, but that's how it was. Next year I am planning to attend one of those workshops ,where they teach you to make eco-friendly ones at home.
